Erika began singing professionally at only seven years old.
At 17, Erika earned the Judge's Choice Award at the Berklee Jazz Festival. She attended Berklee that same year to study both production & engineering, and vocal performance.
In 2003, she launched Van Pelt Entertainment, which houses a mobile DJ service, several bands, Erika's independent record label EVP Records, and a publishing company by the same name.
\nIn 2011, Erika made the Top 10 on American Idol Season 11. This led to a 46-city worldwide arena tour with American Idol LIVE!, 2012.
Erika has performed on The Tonight Show, and has shared the stage and the studio with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Chaka Khan, Rihanna, Demi Lovato, Lana Del Rey, Daughtry, James Taylor, Diana Ross, Kristen Chenoweth, Martin Short, The Staples Singers, Black Eyed Peas, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Holiday, Neil Young, Darren Criss (Glee), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Maroon 5 and many more.
In 2013, she independently recorded and released her aptly named debut album “My Independence.”
