BIOGRAPHY
Derek Klena is an American actor and singer. He is best known for originating the role of Eddie Birdlace in the stage adaptation of Dogfight,and played Fiyero Tigelaar in the 10th anniversary company of Wicked on Broadway. He also he originated the role of Dmitry in Anastasia on Broadway, and Nick Healy in the Broadway bound Alanis Morissette musical Jagged Little Pill. He has made appearances on television series such as Law & Order: SVU, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Blue Bloods.
Klena’s first breakout role came in 2012 when he played Tommy Ross in the Off Broadway Revival of Carrie. He then originated the leading role in the Pasek and Paul hit Dogfight before making his Broadway debut in Wicked as Fiyero. Klena’s second Broadway show was The Bridges of Madison County where he portrayed the role of Michael. For two years he starred as Boogie in the Sheryl Crow musical Diner at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA and again at Delaware Theatre Company. Afterwards he participated in the regional production and Broadway run of Anastasia as Dmitry. Most recently he played Nick Healy in Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill at the American Repertory Theatre.
On TV Klena has guest-starred on The Tomorrow People, The Carrie Diaries, and Law & Order: SVU. Following that Klena was a recurring guest star on The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt as Douglas Fingablast / DJ Fingablast. He has also guest starred on Blue Bloods and Quantico.
